Acts 23:23-35

Having just found out about the plot to ambush and kill Paul, Lysias ordered Paul sent to governor Felix at Caesarea. Not leaving anything to chance, Lysias sends a contingent of 470 men to escort Paul on this trip. This is more than ten times the number that Lysias was told were trying to kill Paul. This of course ends the Jerusalem phase of Paul’s trials. To some degree, this story demonstrates the importance that Roman representatives put on protecting Roman citizens. This passage also demonstrates how God uses all things, even the political structures of the world, to facilitate the spreading of the Gospel.
