Luke 7:18-35

Herod has John locked up in prison. When John’s disciples reported to him what had been happening with Jesus, John sent two of them to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or are we to wait for another?” Jesus tells them to tell John what they have seen and heard. Jesus gives them six points about his ministry that should answer John’s question; (1) the blind receive their sight, (2) the lame walk, (3) the lepers are cleansed, (4) the deaf hear, (5) the dead are raised, and (6) the poor have good news brought to them. Jesus then declares a blessing that seems to function as a warning, “Blessed is anyone who takes no offense at me.”

The question that comes to my mind is, “Was this what John expected of “the one who is to come”?”
