Old Testament Reading
Here in Isaiah 1:21-31, we hear the
prophet presenting justice and righteousness as inseparable. Our relationship with God (our righteousness) is reflected in our relationships with the people around us (our justice). Conversely, the way we interact with the people around us reflects our relationship with God. This reading presents a list of actions and consequences; a lament of offences (verses 21-23) resulting in judgment (verse 24), repentance (verses 25-26) resulting in redemption (verse 27), and rebellion and sin resulting in destruction (verse 28). These are simple spiritual truths.
What does it mean for you to be redeemed by righteousness?
