Dear Friends in Christ,
The Alexandria Presbyterian Church building is closed, in response to the COVID19 Pandemic, but the Church goes on! There are a variety of services that will be made available to the congregation and community by the Deacons, the Session, and the pastor during this time. No services or meetings will be held in our building until after April 6, 2020, when the session will reevaluate the situation. We also covet your prayers for our congregation and community during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Necessities on Wheels (NOW – Making a difference now!)
The deacons are making available to the congregation the home delivery of (1) food, (2) water. (3) medicine, and (4) other essentials. If you have any one of these needs, please call the church at 669-5005
Matthew 25:40 (NRSV)
And the king will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’
Services of Worship (SOW – Sowing seeds of faith, hope, and love.)
No services or meetings will be held in our church building until after April 6, 2020 when the session will reevaluate the situation. Starting on March 29 mini-Worship Services will be provided to the congregation via YouTube. Outlines of these miniWorship Services and the Scripture passages used will be provided on the church’s web page (apchurch.org), through email, and by weekly pastoral letters.
1 Corinthians 13:13 (NRSV)
And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.
In Touch (IT – Using Information Technology, IT, to stay in touch.)
There will be a variety of efforts made to stay in touch with the congregation: group emails, group texts, and weekly pastoral letters. Private counseling and prayer will be made available by the pastor by phone and by utilizing the Zoom’s video platform.
Romans 12:6–8 (NRSV)
We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness.
Gifts and Offerings (GO – Giving in times of need shows the wealth of God’s kingdom.)
Even though we are not worshipping in our sanctuary and our building is closed for meetings, most of the expenses of being the church remain. Your continued giving will help make it possible for us to provide for the needs of our congregation and to minister to the community around us. Two self-addressed stamped envelopes were mailed to our active members and to our regular attendees. They have been invited to use them to continue their giving to God’s work through our church in this crisis. There are also buttons at the bottom of each page on our church’s website, apchurch.org, from which you may give to the work of our church. You may use any credit or debit card to make these gifts. Give as the Holy Spirit leads you to give.
Malachi 3:10–12 (NRSV)
Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing. I will rebuke the locust for you, so that it will not destroy the produce of your soil; and your vine in the field shall not be barren, says the LORD of hosts. Then all nations will count you happy, for you will be a land of delight, says the LORD of hosts.
If you have a need, please call the church at 669-5005. Know that you are loved by GOD and our congregation.
Yours in Christ,
